You know the price of gas is high when...

you run your tank down to empty because you know when you get back to college the gas there will be cheeper (2.99!!). Although the gas light wouldn't have gone on if there wasn't all that traffic on the Thuway...

Sarah Finch

A couple weekends ago I went to the Hyde Park Performance for Unity, at , a concert that was also put on at the U.N. One of the performers was Sarah Finch, who acted part of her show Yours Ever, Jane. It was awesome. Very funny. She reinacted the Mr. Collins proposal scene from Pride & Prejudice, playing all the parts. I don't think Lizzie and Mr. Bennet were satirical enough in their lines, but they didn't have a lot, so maybe it comes across better in the full performance. But Mr. Collins was so pompus (she had a monacle), and Mrs. Bennet was hilarious as well. So if anybody's ever in England and it's playing, I say go for it.

Make your own Chuck Norris t-shirt

Chuck Norris t-shirt

There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live.

Can you take pictures of vampires?

[Some friends are talking about pictures of a ghost.]
Someone (seriously): I didn't know you could take pictures of ghosts.
Me (joking): No, you're thinking of vampires.
Someone: Huh.
Me: It was a joke. But...since vampires can't see their reflection in a mirror...
Mary: And since cameras work by reflecting light off a small set of mirrors...
Me: You can't take pictures of vampires.

Although my research now indicates that since digital cameras work with electronic sensors, I believe you can take a picture of vampires with a digital.

(You know you're a nerd when...)

Pirates!

The new Pirates of the Caribbean trailer is up. Woot! Pirates is one of my all time favorite movies. And in case anybody's wondering, modern day canoes that float even when they're filled with water, you can't turn them upside down and go under water. Thought you ought to know.

Why is it that Pirates is such an appealing movie? I think it's that people still do the right thing even though they seem to be morally corrupt pirates. Like Jack. Sure, much of his good work is to become "square" with people again, but that's not why he first saves Elizabeth from drowning. And when Jack's crew saves him at the end, it goes against the Pirate's Code (Why can't I remember the code?? But it's something like every man for himself.).

Elizabeth Swann: There will come a moment when you have the chance to do the right thing.
Jack Sparrow: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.

Notes to self

--Perfume that you try out in the store goes on easily, but takes forever to get off. Especially if you get it on a jacket.
--Push up sleeves before handling baby that just ate macaroni and cheese, and has the sauce all over his hands.
--You should be writing your ten page paper instead of posting. If you don't write any today, you'll regret it.

True Story

My cousin is trying to explain to my great uncle about the difference between hardware and software, because he keeps calling the wrong place when he has a problem (calling the computer people when the problem is a program).
So my cousin says:
It's like cars. Say you buy a new car. That's the hardware.
Then you add a sound system. That's software. So if you've got a
problem with the new sound system, you don't call the car dealer, you talk to
the people you got the sound system from.
My uncle:
Is the car standard or automatic?
